In the evening we serve artisanal meals and weekly surprising new dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
Appels & Peren has now become a place to get together, meet up with friends, work on your laptop or enjoy the sun on the terrace with a nice drink in the summer.
We are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner.

Bocca COFFEE..
About twenty years ago, founder Menno Simons was traveling in Ethiopia and came across coffee plants full of ripe red berries during a walk. The seed was planted… There and then, he decided to bring this treasure to the Netherlands, to help the farmers he had befriended obtain organic certification, and to let them reap the fruits of their hard work in an honest way.
Once back in Amsterdam, he locked himself in his garage with a small PROBAT roaster and experimented wildly with his shipment of Ethiopian coffee beans. Soon, friends and neighbors were queuing up to buy small quantities of coffee, and thus began a lifelong quest for perfection.
Sealed with a sense of taste, he made the move to superior quality coffee.
And because we think the coffee is delicious, we have been serving it since Appels & Peren first opened its doors in 2014. Of course, all our employees receive barista training.
Now also at Appels & Peren the delicious syrups from Monin for an extra flavour in your coffee.

Betjeman & Barton Tea
It was Arthur Betjeman (family of Sir John Betjeman, the famous English poet) who opened ‘The English Tea House’ in Paris in 1919, after an extensive study of tea in Dublin and London. By entering into a partnership with Percy Barton, the new name Betjeman & Barton was created. Although they introduced the English way of drinking tea in Paris, the two gentlemen had to take into account the inevitable influence of French taste.
And so the right balance was developed between the English views on tea, pure and distinguished, and the freedom of French taste, always curious about new taste sensations with sufficient room for imagination.
Betjeman & Barton does not believe in mass, but in absolute quality. For example, our teas are only purchased after careful selection.
In addition to the range of classic teas, creating unique and balanced tea blends is one of Betjeman & Barton’s specialities. Only natural essences and aromas are added to Betjeman & Barton’s perfumed teas, which means that the teas never taste sweet, but rather like tea with a hint of whatever has been added to it.
At Appels & Peren we have chosen the following types of tea:
Green tea
Les Invités Chinese – jasmine – roses – lychee – delicacy
Sencha very popular in Japan – fresh grass – slightly sweet aftertaste
Lundi Light Chinese – lemongrass – ginger – strength & energy
Black tea
Pouchkine bergamot – grapefruit – orange – oldest blend Betjeman & Barton
Earl Grey Chinese – bergamot – English classic
Quatre Fruits Rouges Sri Lanka – strawberries – raspberries – cherries – currants
Spices
Bouquet de Manon liquorice – lemongrass – peppermint
Verbena lemon verbena – relaxing – digestive
Rooibos
Rooibos Jardin Rouge green Rooibos – cornflower, roses and sunflower petals – roses – strawberries – vanilla – grapefruit
Homemade..
Almost everything we serve is made in our own kitchen. Our stew simmers for hours on a low flame, for our apple pies we peel about 20 kilos of apples every week, we make our own mayonnaise and the fries are cut in a purely artisanal way and fried twice. Well, in short, everything is homemade. That is a lot of work but we know from our guests that it is very much appreciated. And we like that in turn!
In addition to the artisanal preparation, we also look for beautiful products. For example, we buy our burgers from Weiderij Horison, a family business in Maasland where the craftsmanship is paramount and our stew is made from beef from the region, Westland beef.
Honest and good food; that’s what we like!
